Today, the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and their lay collaborators are carrying on the mission of Mother Cabrini, ministering on six continents and in fifteen countries in the world, bringing the Love of Jesus until the ends of the Earth.
In these countries, we strive to carry out the mission and charism of Mother Cabrini who continues to inspire us for evangelization, education, health care, working with the poor and underprivileged, with people of all colors, nationalities and languages, in developed and developing nations. We seek to respond to the local needs of children, youth, men and women, and the elders. We collaborate actively with the dedicated laity who serve with us.
Cabrini Today
To be bearers of Christ's love in the world: this is the gift of the Holy Spirit to God's people. This gift is concretely revealed and expressed through the life and witness of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini and us Missionaries of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, together with the Cabrinian Lay Missionaries (MLCs) and collaborators in mission.
Together, attracted by this charism, we share a variety of ministries through which we strive to be faithful witnesses of Christ's love in the world.
Pope Leo XIV Visit to Sant’Angelo Lodigiano

On June 20, 2026, Pope Leo XIV made a pilgrimage to Sant'Angelo Lodigiano, the birthplace of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini. The visit included prayer before a relic of Mother Cabrini's heart, a liturgical celebration, and an address to the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the faithful gathered there.
Pope Leo explained that Mother Cabrini's strength came from her deep love for Christ and her conviction that no person was beyond God's care.
One line that beautifully summarizes her life is his quotation from Cabrini herself:
"No task will be too difficult, no land too far away, no person too wounded for the love of the Heart of Jesus and for all those called to be bearers of Christ’s love in the world.”
Brothers and sisters, what could be more relevant today than this charism? I say this here, before the relic of Mother Cabrini’s heart, brought from the Motherhouse in Codogno. I say this as I greet and thank with affection her spiritual daughters, the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. What could be more relevant today than a missionary charism dedicated to serving migrants?
I therefore take this opportunity to make an appeal, especially to young people: get to know Saint Frances Cabrini! Read her writings, filled with passion for Jesus and for the mission; her letters, her travel journals, and the notes from her retreats. Anyone who gets to know Mother Cabrini is captivated by her. Her soul was at once contemplative and active; she was immersed in the love of the Heart of Christ, and this gave her an extraordinary capacity for work and strength of spirit, in keeping with the Pauline motto she had chosen for the Institute: “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me” (Phil 4:13).
