Sacred heart spirituality
Mother Cabrini’s spirituality was entirely centered on the passionate, merciful love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which she translated into "missionary zeal" for the poor, immigrants, and marginalized. She founded the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (MSCs) in 1880 and in a collection of letters written to them during one of her missionary voyages, she writes:.
Be charitable, dear daughters, love one another in holy love in the adorable heart of Jesus .
Try to be the one who always sooths the balm of peace.
Learn how to use that precious magnet of charity to alleviate pain, dress wounds and to console in tribulation.
What a wonderful sign to see so may souls of different nations and different language united in one religious family, joined by the ties of the sweet charity of the Adorable Heart of Jesus.
Frances Xavier Cabrini defined Sacred Heart spirituality as an active, courageous participation in the love of Jesus — a love that must be carried into the world, especially to the poor, abandoned, displaced, and forgotten.
